New technology helps with injuries

VeTeRINARY Thermography is widely used in the US and europe but the practise is just starting to expand here in Western Australia.

“It is now starting to catch on here as more vets accept it as another very useful diagnostic tool, or where they feel the costs of xray and ultrasound may not be warranted,” said Quenten Jackson, a Bridgetown thermographer.

Having trouble getting a farrier? You’re not alone

AS A horse owner in a rural part of WA, getting hold of a skilled farrier is one of the many challenges of caring for horses.

He’s the best horse in the world!” I said to my mum as I left the ring on my horse Tom with a Reserve Champion Hack sash around his neck.

In just a few short years of riding, rodeo WA youngster from Baskerville, Taya Hill, has become recognised as an exceptional barrel racer and a talented all round rodeo rider.

At just 13 Taya is the Under-14 Barrel Racing Champion of the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABRCA), and the National Rodeo Council (NRC).

New queen and princess for 2012

ON February 4 WA’s 2012 Rodeo Queen, Princess and Mini Princess were announced at the annual quest in Brigadoon.

Rodeo girls from all over the State had spent months preparing their portfolios, brushing up on their rodeo knowledge and fundraising money.

To qualify to compete in the quest the Queens had to raise $500 and the Princesses had to raise $150, which later went back into the quest for the girls beautiful prizes.
